Residential
The Burke Center's residential services provides a home for
individuals with mental retardation who are in need of a more
structured environment to live in the community. Individuals receive
training and assistance as needed in performing basic self-help and
home management skills. Residents are also involved in activities
outside the home such as vocational services, employment
opportunities and community activities.
The Burke Center currently operates numerous homes that have staff
employed by shift to provide the supports for the consumer. Staff
are always present when consumers are at home. These homes are
located in Lufkin, Diboll, Kirbyville, Newton, Nacogdoches,
Pineland, and Jasper.
The Burke Center also contracts with individuals/families to provide
foster care type living arrangements. In this type of residential
model, a consumer(s) would live in a family home environment as part
of that family. Supports are provided to the consumer and the
family. |
