Murphy George

Murphy George was appointed to the Burke Center's Board of Trustees on August 24, 1995 by the Commissioners Court of Angelina County to replace Ward Burke  Mr. George retired as Vice President and Director of William George Company, Inc., and as Vice President/Director of several businesses in the Palestine/Lufkin area.  He serves on the Board of Memorial Medical Center of East Texas, as the President of the Lufkin Association for Developmental Disabilities, and the Chairman of the SFA University Foundation.  In addition, he serves as a member of the Drug Advisory Board for Angelina County, Goodwill Industries, Area 7 Special Olympics, Texas Chamber of Commerce, and numerous other local, regional, and state boards.  Mr. George currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees.
